FAQs

How does somatic therapy differ from talk therapy?

Somatic Therapy is a type of therapy which incorporates the mind/body connection. In somatic therapy we use the body both as a way to get more information and also as a tool for healing. It is particularly useful for treating trauma, grief, depression and anxiety. In Somatic Therapy we go below the surface so it is helpful when talk therapy either does not work, or no longer works.

Do you use other modalities?

Somatic therapy is one of the modalities that I use in my work and one that I feel very passionate about because I have seen such positive results. I also use CBT, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Eco Therapy and humanistic therapy when it is indicated and appropriate. My approach to therapy is client-centered, trauma informed and culturally competent.

Do you take insurance?

I currently do not accept insurance but always have sliding scale available.
